CCCC is pleased to Milley, Philip_4 (preferred) for websiteannounce that Philip Milley has joined our staff as Associate Director, Legal Affairs beginning June 20, 2016. Philip concurrently completed a Bachelor of Arts (Double Major) in Philosophy and Religious Studies and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Ethics at Memorial University of Newfoundland, where he graduated on the Faculty of Arts Dean’s List.

Philip also attended the University of New Brunswick, Faculty of Law where he obtained a Juris Doctor and was the recipient of the Law Foundation of New Brunswick Scholarship. During this time at law school Philip clerked for a judge of the New Brunswick Court of Appeal and was involved with the UNB Christian Law Students Society.

Before joining CCCC, Philip practised law for several years in St. John’s, Newfoundland at Eastern Canada’s pre-eminent law firm. Philip maintained a broad civil litigation practice, with a particular focus on employment and insurance litigation. Due to Philip’s client’s being large companies he also assisted clients in various corporate matters.

Philip is a board member of the Christian Legal Fellowship, the chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador section of the Canadian Bar Association Administrative Law Section, member of the Canadian Bar Association Lobbying and Ethics Committee, and past board member of the Schizophrenia Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.

In his new role, Philip will support the Director, Legal Affairs with technical research, analysis and content development. This role is primarily internally facing and provides legal guidance, consultation and support to senior leadership and technical team members on a comprehensive range of charity, tax and trust law issues.
