Regular CCCC blog readers will know that we’ve been actively addressing concerns surrounding charitable status and how recent proposals would negatively impact the entire charitable sector.
We aren’t alone in our concern. Diverse charity representatives are also concerned about the destabilizing and detrimental impact of politicizing charitable status. To this end, our friends at Cardus are hosting an important panel discussion on the government’s use of charitable status to influence charities and their important work.
The September 28 event (Un)Charitable? Is Charitable Status Being Politicized?, features panelists from across the charitable sector:
- Kate Cornell, Interim Director, Public Policy and Advocacy, Imagine Canada
- Tim Gray, Executive Director, Environmental Defence Canada
- Laura Lewis, Executive Director, Pregnancy Care Canada
- Rizwan Mohammad, Advocacy Officer, Public Policy and Government Relations, National Council of Canadian Muslims
You can register for the in-person event in Ottawa or you can register to participate virtually.
