CCCC is pleased to announce that Nevena Urosevic will be joining our staff as Associate Director, Legal Affairs beginning April 6, 2015.
Nevena completed her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies (Hons.) and Hispanic Studies at York University, where she graduated with first class honours. Nevena also attended the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law where she obtained a Juris Doctor (J.D.). During that time, she completed one year in French at the University of Ottawa and a semester in Buenos Aires, Argentina in Spanish with a focus on international humanitarian and human rights law. Nevena was called to the Bar of Ontario in June 2013.
She has a love for languages and is fluent in French, English, Spanish and Serbian. She has also studied basic Mandarin and is currently studying Hebrew. Nevena has a passion for Christian ministry and is an active member of the Toronto Yugoslavian Seventh-day Adventist Church where she currently serves as Youth Leader. She also has a keen interest in constitutional law and using the law as a medium to create a positive space for individuals of faith in a secular society.
Before joining CCCC, Nevena was a litigator in the private sector. Most recently, Nevena worked as an Associate in a small full service Toronto law firm where she had a broad civil litigation practice, with a special focus on human rights and religious accommodation in the workplace. Prior to that, Nevena summered and articled at a national full-service law firm with a focus on education law.
In her new role, Nevena will support the Director, Legal Affairs with technical research, analysis and content development. This role is primarily internally facing and provides legal guidance, consultation and support to senior leadership and technical team members on a comprehensive range of charity and trust law issues.
