{"id":38898,"date":"2026-03-27T09:13:15","date_gmt":"2026-03-27T13:13:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cccc.org\/news_blogs\/?p=38898"},"modified":"2026-03-27T09:13:17","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T13:13:17","slug":"federal-2026-pre-budget-consultation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccc.org\/news_blogs\/legal\/2026\/03\/27\/federal-2026-pre-budget-consultation\/","title":{"rendered":"Federal 2026 Pre-Budget Consultation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance (\u201cCommittee\u201d) is now accepting submissions for its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ourcommons.ca\/DocumentViewer\/en\/45-1\/FINA\/news-release\/13946244\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2026 Pre-Budget Consultations<\/a> in advance of the 2026 Federal Budget (\u201cFederal Budget\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, the Committee is asking for input earlier than usual. This allows Canadians more time to share their ideas, and ensures those ideas are considered before the Federal Budget is finalized in the Fall.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CCCC will prepare a written brief that highlights the challenges and opportunities facing our members and religious charities in Canada. We will share our submission on this blog once its available. We have posted about our previous pre-budget submissions on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cccc.org\/news_blogs\/legal\/2025\/08\/21\/cccc-2025-federal-pre-budget-submissions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Your Voice Matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In recent years, the impact of pre-budget submissions on religious charities in Canada has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cccc.org\/news_blogs\/legal\/2024\/12\/20\/cccc-responds-to-troubling-recommendations-on-charitable-status\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">drawn national attention<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Christian charitable sector makes a meaningful contribution to Canadian communities and the economy. Research from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardus.ca\/research\/halo-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cardus<\/a> highlights just how significant that impact is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want the government to recognize and protect the charitable status of religious charities in Canada, now is the time to speak up. A written submission is your opportunity to share your perspective directly with decision-makers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Participate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consultations are open until April 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. EST. All written submissions should follow the Committee\u2019s official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ourcommons.ca\/content\/Committee\/441\/FINA\/WebDoc\/WD11891670\/11891670\/WrittenBrief-e.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">template<\/a> and are not permitted to be longer than 2000 words (including charts, tables, images and citations).
