{"id":33344,"date":"2021-11-29T16:52:46","date_gmt":"2021-11-29T21:52:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cccc.org\/news_blogs\/?p=33344"},"modified":"2021-11-29T16:52:48","modified_gmt":"2021-11-29T21:52:48","slug":"cccc-asks-for-clarity-on-charitable-status","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccc.org\/news_blogs\/legal\/2021\/11\/29\/cccc-asks-for-clarity-on-charitable-status\/","title":{"rendered":"CCCC Asks for Clarity on Charitable Status"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>CCCC has written to the federal government about its recent pledge to remove charitable status for \u201canti-abortion organizations (for example, Crisis Pregnancy Centres) that provide dishonest counselling to women about their rights and about the options available to them at all stages of pregnancy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CCCC expresses deep concern over the statement. No charity should be de-registered solely on the basis of a pro-life belief or conscience. At risk of stating the obvious, this belief is quite legal to hold. To de-register a charity on the basis of such beliefs therefore raises immediate and significant <em>Charter <\/em>and procedural fairness concerns. Likewise, no type of charity should have its work mischaracterized, or be labelled with an undefined allegation of dishonesty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But as a Christian organization, we also do not stand for dishonest conduct.
