{"id":24856,"date":"2017-02-22T09:35:31","date_gmt":"2017-02-22T14:35:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cccc.org\/news_blogs\/?p=24856"},"modified":"2022-08-17T14:30:50","modified_gmt":"2022-08-17T18:30:50","slug":"voices-the-place-of-christianity-within-the-contemporary-canadian-landscape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccc.org\/news_blogs\/john\/2017\/02\/22\/voices-the-place-of-christianity-within-the-contemporary-canadian-landscape\/","title":{"rendered":"Voices: How to be a faithful Christian within Canada&#8217;s cultural and faith mosaic"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Jeff Clarke, senior editor of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianweek.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Christian Week<\/em><\/a>, wrote <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianweek.org\/place-christianity-canadas-faith-mosaic\/\">How to be a faithful Christian within Canada&#8217;s cultural and faith mosaic<\/a>,\u00a0which\u00a0I invite you\u00a0to read for his\u00a0important ideas about\u00a0the church and its <strong>mission<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jeff writes that we must resist the lure of using the <strong>power of the state<\/strong> to do what can only be done by the power of the Holy Spirit. He notes that &#8220;corporate change can only come&nbsp;through individual change&#8221; and that Christianity needs to be <em>accepted<\/em>, not <em>enforced<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jeff&#8217;s post is an important caution as to how we Christians choose to advance the mission of the church.
