As a part of the Canada Revenue Agency’s continued effort to clarify the rules and terms that commonly confuse charities,\u00a0the Charities Directorate has recently\u00a0made available\u00a0the first video in an educational series on \u201cgifting and receipting\u201d. This series is intended to help charities learn\u00a0about the rules that relate to\u00a0receipting and the types of donations in which registered charities can issue a donation receipt. The first video, which\u00a0can be accessed here<\/a>, covers what does and does not qualify as a gift, the conditions that need to be fulfilled in order to issue a receipt, and how to determine the amount to report on a donation receipt.<\/p>\n

We expect that this CRA\u00a0initiative will be welcomed,\u00a0as many in the charitable sector have expressed a desire for an update in CRA’s educational materials.\u00a0While we look forward to future videos in this series, we do not expect that these videos will replace CRA policies and guidance .<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
